Aims and background
The CPD Network programme is the latest incarnation of a unique model of professional development training operated by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust whereby teachers train other teachers ... a model which proved highly effective during the Trust's NOF training programme.
Following NOF, the model was redefined during a pilot series of workshops which focused on excellent practice with ICT in the subject and which used materials and example lessons authored by leading practitioners.
The focus of the programme remains with excellent ICT practice in the subject and equips designated tutors in Training Centres with the knowledge and expertise to offer professional development training to their own teaching colleagues, and more widely to other teachers in their locality and their region.
Training materials collectively known as the subject 'Toolkit' are produced by leading practitioners in April and November when our Training Centre Tutors meet together to receive instruction from the authors themselves and to discuss/share more good practice.
The Toolkits adhere closely to national standards for teaching and learning, but the contents take account of the differing abilities and capabilities of the end users; and so, the contents encourage self-guided and self-paced study, and hopefully hone those skills required for lifelong learning.
